My Mother's Cats
The histories of my mother's cats and mine are intertwined, even though I've been living away from her for (almost all of) the past 15 years. Some of my oldest memories are of being less frightened in the dark when Twinks was in reach.  When I moved out on my own into an apartment that would allow only one cat, I took Nermal with me, and left Shadow with her; at the time that she lost Shadow and then Dakota, we were sharing a house.  Sidney, who is still with us, came to live with me when he was eight months old; when Shadow and Dakota died while she and I were sharing a house for a while, he attached himself to Mom and when we parted ways, he went with her.  Since her cats have a special place in my life and, other than Dakota, shared part of their lives with Nermal, they have a special place here as well.

Twinks
(Twinkle Toes - those polydactyl paws of hers made a sound like high heels on hard floors.)
Released to the Rainbow Bridge because of increasing seizures at the age of 19.

Shadow
(The colours of her fur made me think of sunlight through trees on earth and dry leaves.)
Released to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 17 in 2005 because of heart problems and related issues, after over a year on meds that helped her a lot.

Dakota
(Was already named when Mom got her as a kitten - more often called simply Kota.)
Released to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 6, only weeks after her "mom" Shadow's death, officially because of sudden liver problems, but we think she unwilling to live without Shadow.
